Before you can "log to file", you need to activate the debug mode on the device you're troubleshooting. Follow the steps below to set this up.
- Activate debug mode: On the IO-device, navigate to
"System settings" -> "Communication" -> "Devices." Choose the IO-device and check the box for "Debug mode" in the settings and save the configuration. -
Set up logging to a file:
- Navigate to "System settings" -> "Activity log" -> "Debug."
- Click on "Debug settings" at the top.
- Change the date/time how long you want to log to file. The default is set to 1 hour.
- Enable "Log to file" and save the configuration. DO NOT enable "Debug web server"
- (Optional) Enable "Enable performance metrics logs" if you want to log system information such as CPU and memory usage.
NOTE!
Enabling this may cause performance issues, especially on systems with SSDs.
-
Collect data:
- Allow Web Port to collect data for the log.
- Continue troubleshooting, such as attempting to establish a connection with an IO-device.
-
Retrieve data:
- After data collection, download the log file by going to "System settings" -> "Activity log" -> "Debug."
- Click on "Debug settings" in the top and select your file under "Manage log files". The file is named debug and today's date. Initiate the download by clicking the "download" symbol.
-
Access log file:
- Open the log file using a text editor program.
- If necessary, forward the log file to our support team.
