This article will help you make a base confirmation of Web Port Cloud and help you setup cloud specific settings needed for a user friendly and secure environment.
Things you need before you start
- Admin access to a Web Port Cloud instance
Basic information and setup
- Permissions and structure
- By default you will use Kiona identity to login to the system and use Kionas tenant for this. If you want to use you own Azure AD tenant, please see the following link.
- Users for end users
- Added users will get an e-mail invite and will set their own password
- Should have access level NOACCESS
- Should be added to one or more groups created for that customers
- Groups for end customers
- Should have access level NOACCESS
- Elevated permissions for folders, tags etc., are then handled on the under Permissions menu
- Permissions
- Use folder permissions (up to level ADVANCED) and assign them to groups
- By using folder permissions, all pages, sub-folders, schedules and tags that are connected to those pages, inherit the folder-permissions
- Tags are considered to be connected to pages in the following ways
- Connected to an object though the objects prefix or portlet
- Tag name matches a page prefix. (Eg. page prefix is CUSTOMER1, all tags starting with CUSTOMER1_ will be connected to that page
- Separate each customer with a specific tag prefix. Keep as short as possible to keep user experience where tag names are shown (trend and alarms) clean.
- If not all tags that the users should have access to is connected to a page (could for example be general alarms), use tag permissions in addition to folder permissions.
- Schedules need to be linked to pages for it's access rights to be inherited.
- Tags are considered to be connected to pages in the following ways
- By using folder permissions, all pages, sub-folders, schedules and tags that are connected to those pages, inherit the folder-permissions
- Use folder permissions (up to level ADVANCED) and assign them to groups
- Sending alarms
- Web Port Cloud uses sendgrid by default to send alarms. To use any other e-mail service contact Web Port support.
- Default sending email-adress is alarm@webport.se
- Use feature to set users as alarm recivers as much as possible to keep number of alarm filters low. See manual for alarm sending.
- Access to sites
- If using nodes to connect to cloud use the same url as when connecting with the webrowser, eg. https://cloudinstancename.kiona.cloud
- There are two VPN-options
- If you need to know the IP that your Web Port instance initiates connections from, contact Web port support.
- Working with files
- Web Port Cloud does not allow access to the file structure in Windows, instead use these features:
- Upload and download tag lists
- Upload and edit symbol libraries (including icons)
- Move pages and folders
- Upload/Download pages, background and documentation
- Import/Export of folders (including pages, IO-devices, tag lists, schedules, backgrounds, documentation)
