How to check the validity of meter data and edit their values
This guide shows you how to detect and repair possible mistakes in datasets. This occurs rarely, for example because of a power outage of mistakes in the datasets sent to Energinet.
- Remember that Smartmeters do not have their own data. If a suspicious datapoint is obsevered in their reports, check the datasets of the meters linked to the Smartmeter.
- Normal meters in Energinet do not change the import files sent to it, but merely visualize the datapoints. Mistakes in a dataimport could be an indication of a problem with your meter(s) and/or datalogger.
- You must have editing rights to the meter to be able to follow the steps in this guide.
- It is recommended to make a back-up before you proceed.
If in doubt about whether to edit/delete datapoints, always contact your administrator or support_energinet@kiona.com before proceeding. Some changes might not be reversible.
- Check the report in the summary-tab of the meter
- For example, look for peaks or negative values that seem out of place, or missing dataperiods.
2. Hoover your mouse over the datapoint
- Note the date (and time if available)!
3. Click on the meter's settings (three dots) and then 'Meter data'
4. Go to the tab 'Edit/Delete data' and update it to the date around the datapoint
- It is recommended to set the date to at least 24 hours before and after the suspicious datapoint.
- In the example below, the data goes from 14532 to 14481 and back to 14532 again. Given that this is an incremental meter, the difference between datapoints should always be zero or larger.
5. Having located the wrong datapoint, change it to a correct value and check its box
- Deleting data should be avoided unless no other solution is possible.
- In this example, the value was changed to make the increment of the meter zero.
6. Click on 'Edit' down on the page
- Make sure you have checked the box of the changed datapoint (previous step)!
7. Go back to the report to check whether the problem is solved
- Energinet automatically recalculates the dataset after editing meter data.
- It can take a few minutes before the graph is updated. Please wait half an hour before attempting to troubleshoot further or change more.
- In this example, correcting one datapoint to have a valid increment was enought to fix the problem.
If in doubt about whether to edit/delete datapoints, always contact your administrator or support_energinet@kiona.com before proceeding.
