Groups in Web Port simplify the management of time scheduling for multiple time schedules simultaneously. Time schedule groups function as independent time schedule, offering increased flexibility and simplicity.
NOTE!
Groups are not supported for local schedule states!
Create group
To create a new group, go to Schedules, select Groups, and then Add Group. Give the group a name and save. This will open additional settings.
- Day filter - By default, the group is active only on filtered days. If you deselect this option, the group remains continuously active.
Add State
-
The default state "Transparent" always exists, meaning the group's status doesn't affect the time schedule.
-
Add your own desired state, e.g., "Open". Add more states and/or save the group.
Add event to the group
-
Add an event and specify the event's start and end time and weekdays the event should apply to. Select the events state, e.g., "Open". And save.
-
If "Day filter" is enabled, then we need to "Add day filters". Then the group will only be active during these days.
Link the group to a schedule
- Go to a schedule and add the group under "Add Group". Select the group from the dropdown list.
- Select "Priority" for the group. The first group added gets automatically priority 1. You can add more groups to a schedule with higher or lower priority.
- Define which state from the schedule the groups state should control.
Info
If you have multiple groups linked to a schedule, the group with priority 1 will be activated first, followed by the group with priority 2, and so on. Lastly, the schedule itself will be activated.
Scenario example
A practical example is managing school holidays.
- Create a Schedule Group "School Holidays".
- Add events for start and stop times during holidays.
- Link the group to relevant schedules.
- As a new year approaches, update filter days to reflect the new holidays.
In this way, the same group can be used for multiple time schedules, ensuring smooth and effective schedule updates.
Advantages with Schedule Groups
-
Simple management: The same group can be used on multiple schedules.
- Flexible management: Quickly update filtered days without changing each individual time schedules.
- Priority Management: Ability to define groups with highest priority.
This feature enhances scheduling efficiency in Web Port, particularly for intricate systems with multiple time schedules influenced by the same schedule.
Groups - Node/Portal
With Web Port, you can efficiently manage time schedules and schedule groups between a local installation (node) and a portal. There are certain limitations and opportunities that are important to understand in order to use the system optimally.
You can create a time schedule on the node, meaning the schedule is local to that specific installation. From the portal, you can then create a group and link it to the time schedule created on the node. This centralizes management of time schedules and groups, simplifying administration.
One major advantage of this system is that groups created on the node can be edited from the portal. This allows you to make changes and updates centrally, without needing to access each individual node. However, there is a limitation: groups created on the portal cannot be edited from the node. This ensures that centralized settings remain consistent and are not inadvertently changed locally.
Another crucial aspect to consider is that if you create a time schedule on the portal, you cannot use a group created on the node. To utilize a group with a time schedule made on the portal, the group must also be created there. This ensures all settings and configurations are synchronized and managed centrally.
To simplify the management of time schedules and groups, there is a button called "Hide external." When you are on the portal and activate this button, it conceals time schedules or groups created on the node. Similarly, on the node, you can hide or display groups created on the portal. This provides flexibility in adjusting the view of time schedules and groups depending on your workspace.
Groups – Older Implementation
NOTE!
This manual below explains how Groups functioned in previous versions, up to and including version 2.24.10
On the schedule page under VIEW/GROUPS you can name groups of days. This can be, for example, vacations, alternative days, etc. These groups can then be linked to schedules just like special days, which enable joint control of several schedules.
NOTE!
Groups are not supported for local schedule states!
Create group
To create a new group, go to SCHEDULES, select GROUPS, and then NEW GROUP.
The following settings can be made:
| Description | Descriptive text for the group |
Information:
When the group has been named and saved, it is possible to choose which days or periods of days the group should include.
Select NEW DAY to add a single day, or NEW PERIOD to add a period of days.
Then save the group and associate it with the desired schedules by creating events that use the group.
Edit group
To edit a group go to SCHEDULES, select VIEW/GROUPS and then the desired group in the list. In the dialog that opens, days can be linked to or removed from the group.
Delete group
To delete a group go to SCHEDULES, select VIEW/GROUPS and then the desired group in the list. In the dialog that opens, click the DELETE button and confirm your selection.
